Apple TV 4K 2026 refresh: A17 Pro + Wi-Fi 7 + Apple Intelligence — $129 (Oct 13)
Apple TV 4K 2026 refresh Oct 13: A17 Pro + 8GB RAM + Apple Intelligence + Wi-Fi 7 (N1). $129 (64GB) / $149 (128GB Ethernet). vs Roku Ultra vs Shield.
Apple refreshed the Apple TV 4K on October 13, 2026 as part of the fall product wave — same $129 starting price as the 2022 model, but with the A17 Pro chip (replacing the A15 Bionic), 8 GB RAM (up from 4 GB), Wi-Fi 7 via Apple's new N1 chip, Apple Intelligence support, and a redesigned Siri Remote with USB-C + Find My. The Apple TV 4K 2026 is the first Apple TV to support Apple Intelligence features and the first streaming device in its price class with on-device AI.
For Apple TV 4K owners with the 2022 model, the 2026 refresh is a modest upgrade (faster app launches, Apple Intelligence, Wi-Fi 7) — not a must-buy. For anyone with the 2017/2021 Apple TV 4K, this is a clear buy because Apple Intelligence + Wi-Fi 7 are transformative for home entertainment.
Apple TV 4K 2026 specifications
Apple TV 4K (3rd generation, 2026 refresh) — officially named "Apple TV 4K with Apple Intelligence":
| Spec | Apple TV 4K 2026 | Apple TV 4K 2022 |

| Matter | Yes (built-in) | Yes |
| Storage options | 64 GB / 128 GB | 64 GB / 128 GB |
| Starting price | $129 (64GB) / $149 (128GB Ethernet) | $129 / $149 |

Key improvements:
- 2.4x faster CPU (per Apple) — A17 Pro vs A15
- 40% faster GPU — 5-core GPU with hardware ray tracing
- Double the RAM — 8 GB enables Apple Intelligence + future tvOS features
- Apple Intelligence on-device — same 4B LLM as iPhone 15 Pro
- Wi-Fi 7 — for 4K/120 Hz HDR streaming + AirPlay 4K low-latency
- N1 chip — Apple's wireless co-processor (also in iPhone 18 series)
What is the Apple TV 4K 2026 price?
Same pricing as 2022 model — Apple held the line on streaming-device pricing:
| Model | Storage | Ethernet | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple TV 4K (Wi-Fi) | 64 GB | No | $129 |
| Apple TV 4K (Wi-Fi + Ethernet) | 128 GB | Yes | $149 |
Apple TV 4K is now $20 cheaper than at launch in some regions (UK £129 was £149 originally; Germany €139 was €159). Apple usually drops international prices gradually.
For most users, the $129 Wi-Fi model is sufficient — Ethernet is only needed for >1 Gbps internet (rare for streaming) or for hardwired network stability. The 128GB model is only worth it if you download lots of games + Apple Arcade titles (Apple TV has Apple Arcade gaming with controller support).
What does Apple Intelligence on Apple TV 4K do?
Apple Intelligence on Apple TV 4K 2026 is the first Apple Intelligence implementation on a streaming device. Features include:
- Enhanced Siri — Conversational Siri 2.0 with on-device LLM (4B parameters, same as iPhone 15 Pro). Natural back-and-forth dialogue, no "Sorry, I didn't catch that" errors.
- Show recommendations — Apple Intelligence suggests shows/movies based on viewing patterns, time of day, and family preferences.
- Natural language search — Search "movies where a robot becomes a father figure to a kid" instead of "robot + family + drama filters".
- Subtitle generation — Live on-device translation for 7 EU languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish) for any content, not just Apple TV+.
- Memory photo montage — Apple Intelligence creates on-device montages of family photos + Memories shared via Photos app, then plays them in the Photos app on Apple TV with auto-scored music.
- Reduce interruption — Apple Intelligence filters notification banners during video playback and identifies important scenes to skip past automatically.
Privacy: All Apple Intelligence on Apple TV runs on-device — no data leaves the device unless you opt in to Private Cloud Compute for heavy tasks.
What does the new Siri Remote do?
Siri Remote (2026) redesign — USB-C (replacing Lightning), Find My support, refined touch surface:
| Feature | Siri Remote 2026 | Siri Remote 2022 |
|---|---|---|
| Charging port | USB-C | Lightning |
| Find My | Yes (with beeper) | No |
| Touch surface | Refined (40% larger) | Same as 2021 |
| Power button | Yes (TV power control) | Yes |
| Mute button | Yes (Siri mic mute) | Yes |
| Battery | ~3 months | ~1 month |
| Compatibility | Apple TV 4K 2026 + 2022 + HD | Apple TV 4K 2022 + HD |
| Price (standalone) | $59 | $59 |
The Find My support is the biggest user-experience improvement — previous Siri Remotes were commonly lost in couch cushions. Now you can ping them like an AirTag.
USB-C matches the rest of Apple's lineup — iPhone 18 series, iPad Air/Pro, MacBook, AirPods Pro 3 all use USB-C.
How does Apple TV 4K 2026 compare to streaming rivals?
Apple TV 4K 2026 vs Roku Ultra 2026 vs Nvidia Shield TV Pro:
| Feature | Apple TV 4K 2026 | Roku Ultra 2026 | Nvidia Shield TV Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chip | A17 Pro | Quad-core ARM | Tegra X1+ |
| RAM | 8 GB | 2 GB | 3 GB |
| Storage | 64/128 GB | 32 GB (no expand) | 16 GB (expand via USB) |
| 4K HDR | Dolby Vision + HDR10+ | Dolby Vision + HDR10+ | Dolby Vision + HDR10 |
| Dolby Atmos | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi 7 | Wi-Fi 6 | Wi-Fi 5 (Gigabit Ethernet) |
| Apple Intelligence | Yes | No | No |
| Thread/Matter | Yes | No | No |
| Gaming | Apple Arcade + controllers | Roku Games | GeForce NOW + native |
| AI assistant | Siri 2.0 + Apple Intelligence | Roku Voice | Google Assistant |
| Price | $129 / $149 | $99 | $199 |
Apple TV 4K wins on:
- AI features (Apple Intelligence is unmatched)
- Build quality + Apple ecosystem integration (AirPods spatial audio, iPhone-as-remote, Photos)
- Gaming (Apple Arcade titles like Alto's Odyssey, Stardew Valley, NBA 2K)
Apple TV 4K loses on:
- Price ($30 more than Roku Ultra)
