iPhone 18 Pro Max colors: every confirmed finish

iPhone 18 Pro Max colors: Burgundy (hero), Silver, Sky Blue, Dark Grey. Same 4-color lineup as iPhone 18 Pro. Pantone codes + Burgundy availability + how to reserve.

Last updated: (1 months ago)By Marcus Chen

The iPhone 18 Pro Max ships in the same four colors as the iPhone 18 Pro: Burgundy (Pantone 6076C), Silver (Pantone 427C), Sky Blue (Pantone 2121C), and Dark Grey (Pantone 426C). There is no Pro Max-exclusive color in the 2026 lineup — the Pro and Pro Max share the same colorways, per Instant Digital's Pantone report (August 26, 2026) and supply-chain checks.

Burgundy is the flagship marketing color for the iPhone 18 generation — it is the color Apple will use in most launch ads, the one John Ternus will be photographed holding on stage at the September 9 keynote, and the one that will have the longest wait times after launch.

All four colors are available on both iPhone 18 Pro (6.3") and iPhone 18 Pro Max (6.9"). There are no storage-tier-exclusive colors and no carrier-exclusive colors in 2026.

Burgundy: the flagship color

Burgundy is the new color for the iPhone 18 generation. It is a deep, slightly-purple-leaning red that reads as burgundy or wine in most lighting. Pantone 6076C corresponds to a "very dark red" with a subtle plum undertone.

Three reasons Apple chose Burgundy as the flagship marketing color:

  1. Camera-ready. Burgundy photographs well under stage lighting. It pops in Apple's keynote videos without reflecting light back into the lens.
  2. Distinctive vs iPhone 17 generation. The iPhone 17 Pro lineup had Deep Blue and Cosmic Orange as its hero colors. Burgundy is a clear shift away from those tones.
  3. Industry trend. Burgundy and wine-red tones have been growing in premium product design since 2024 — see Tesla's "Red Multi-Coat" refresh, Apple's own (PRODUCT)RED special editions, and Bang & Olufsen's seasonal colorways.

Expect Burgundy to have the longest wait time after launch. Apple's flagship marketing color typically sells out first, both because of brand cachet and because Apple's initial inventory allocation skews toward the safer colors. For Burgundy iPhone 18 Pro Max, expect a 3-6 week waitlist if you order after September 18.

Silver, Sky Blue, and Dark Grey: the safer alternatives

Silver is the closest to the iPhone 17 Pro's Natural Titanium. It is a light gray with a slight warm undertone that pairs with any case color. Silver is the safest choice for buyers who plan to use a case — the underlying color does not matter once it is covered.

Sky Blue is the new "Light Blue" alternative for buyers who want color without the boldness of Burgundy. It is more saturated than the iPhone 15 Pro's Blue Titanium but lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro's Deep Blue.

Dark Grey is essentially the iPhone 17 Pro's Space Black, renamed. It is the most fingerprint-resistant of the four colors on the matte titanium finish.

Does the iPhone 18 Pro Max have a new color vs iPhone 17 Pro Max?

The iPhone 18 Pro Max colors are mostly renamed and retoned versions of the iPhone 17 Pro Max lineup:

iPhone 17 Pro MaxiPhone 18 Pro Max
Natural TitaniumSilver
Blue TitaniumSky Blue (lighter)
White Titanium(no direct equivalent — Silver is closest)
Black TitaniumDark Grey

Burgundy is the only genuinely new color. The other three are tonal shifts from the iPhone 17 Pro Max lineup.

What about the iPhone Fold?

The iPhone Fold has a separate, smaller color lineup because of the foldable form factor's different finish requirements:

  • Light Gold — new hero color for the Fold
  • Silver
  • Space Black
  • Deep Blue

The Fold is announced September 9 but ships Spring 2027. The iPhone Fold colors are not available for the iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max.

When can you pre-order iPhone 18 Pro Max in Burgundy?

Pre-orders open Friday, September 11, 2026 at 5:00 AM Pacific (Apple's standard slot) or Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 12:01 AM Pacific (if Apple shifts off the 9/11 anniversary, as it did for the iPhone 6S in 2015). The first wave of Burgundy inventory will sell out within 2-4 hours of pre-orders opening — Apple typically allocates ~20% of initial inventory to the flagship color, with Burgundy being the smallest allocation of the four.

If you want Burgundy on launch day (September 18), pre-order in the first 60 seconds of whichever gate opens. After that, expect a 3-6 week waitlist for Burgundy Pro Max.

How to reserve your preferred color

Three tips to maximize your chance of getting the color you want:

  1. Pre-decide — Silver, Sky Blue, Dark Grey, or Burgundy. Don't waffle.
  2. Be ready at the gate — Apple Store app is faster than apple.com. Notifications fire a few minutes before the gate opens.
  3. Have a backup — if your first choice sells out, know your second choice before pre-order day. Bumping down storage (1TB → 512GB) usually has stock; bumping color (Burgundy → Sky Blue) usually has stock the next day.
