When does the iPhone 18 ship?

First deliveries and in-store availability for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected Friday, September 18, 2026 — announcement Wednesday Sept 9, pre-orders that Friday or Saturday, ship the following Friday. Apple has confirmed only the announcement date.

Why is this John Ternus's first keynote?

Tim Cook has been Apple's CEO since August 2011. On September 1, 2026, Tim Cook transitions to Executive Chairman, and John Ternus — currently Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering — formally becomes CEO. The September 9 event is the first iPhone keynote under Ternus's leadership.
